In June 2011 GAZ Group and Volkswagen Group Rus signed a long-term cooperation agreement. In 2012 production of Škoda Yeti crossover started at GAZ, in 2013 new Volkswagen Jetta and Škoda Octavia went into production. Full-cycle manufacturing of the cars includes all main technological stages: welding, painting, assembly. A total of EUR 300 million was invested in the project, including modernization of production capacities at Gorky Automobile Plant and training of personnel. Within the project scope new assembly and body shops were created at GAZ, painting facility was modernized, logistic and quality control systems were improved, a training center was opened for learning advanced standards of global automotive industry.
In Volkswagen Group Rus Training Center GAZ workers acquire practical skill in dedicated areas, simulating work at all stages of Volkswagen and Škoda cars production. The 3,000 sq m training facility comprises five areas for practical training in technological operations of welding, painting, assembly, production system and logistics, as well as classes for theoretical study. Training courses are conducted by GAZ trainers who to be able to do that had to go through training and certification at Volkswagen and Škoda plants in Germany and Czech Republic.
In 2013 Gorky Automobile Plant localized production of axles and exhaust management systems for Volkswagen and Škoda cars.
In 2015 GAZ Group and Volkswagen celebrated production of the 100,000th car at GAZ under the joint project.

In 2010 GAZ Group and Daimler concern signed an agreement on organizing production of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter commercial vehicles at Gorky Automobile Plant in Nizhny Novgorod. Production started in 2013. Manufacturing of the vans is organized as a full cycle, including all principal technological stages: welding, painting, assembly.
Daimler AG and Russian GAZ Group invested in excess of EUR 190 million in launching localized production of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic. As part of the joint project approximately 90,000 sq m of production and logistic space were modernized at GAZ and a new painting facility was built, in which Mercedes-Benz Sprinters are painted as well as GAZelle NEXT and GAZon NEXT vehicles of GAZ' new model range. GAZ workers went though practical training at Daimler production facilities.
GAZ Group, Russia's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles, possesses invaluable expertise in automobile construction. Due to that the production line for the Mercedes LCV was easily integrated into GAZ infrastructure.
In 2013 Yaroslavl Engine Plant of GAZ Group localized production of engines for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
In 2015 GAZ Group expanded cooperation with Daimler by organizing production of stamped body panels and structural elements for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. The components for Daimler are made at Gorky Automobile Plants press and framing facility on new automated equipment with the use of modern dies from Germany and Argentina. Stamped parts are supplied to the Mercedes assembly conveyor at GAZ and to the spare parts distribution network.
In 2015 10,000th Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was built at GAZ.

In 2014 GAZ Group and Swedish fasteners manufacturer Bulten established their Bulten-Rus joint venture at Gorky Automobile Plant. The JV became Bulten's first production facility in Russia.
Total investment of GAZ and Bulten in creating the new production operation amounted to EUR 12 million. 12.5 thousand square meters of production space was modernized in the scope of organizing the joint operation, new equipment from Italy, Japan and China was installed on GAZ site to support all stages of full-cycle production of fasteners: cold upsetting, threading and thermal treatment. Annual production capacity of Bulten-Rus is 8,000 tons.

In 2012 GAZ Group and Bosal, one of the leading international manufacturers of emission control systems, opened a Joint Venture at Gorky Automobile Plant to produce exhaust systems. Joint investment in establishing the JV totaled RUB 160 million. Production capacity of the business exceeds 300,000 units per year.
Bosal-GAZ facility is equipped with modern machinery from world's leading equipment suppliers: automatic pipe bending and welding systems, as well as equipment for production of catalytic converters.
The JV products are designed for commercial vehicles under GAZ brand and for assembly of foreign-brand cars. Thus, the JV supplies exhaust control systems for Volkswagen Jetta, Škoda Octavia and Škoda Yeti cars, produced in Nizhny Novgorod.
